We visited La Barceloneta, a lively big park on a hill over looking the city where the Olympics were held and the home of a number of museums and an artisan collective.
The highlights of the day were full-immersion in Gaudi's masterpieces, La Pietra - the apartment building we rode past the day before. It is beautiful with so many details and no straight lines. The highlight was going to the roof - the chimneys and ventilation shafts were all so imaginative and beautiful.
Our biggest treat was going inside La Sagrada Familia cathedral. This hand-crafted cathedral was started in the 1880s was only consecrated in 2010 and is expected to be completed in 2030! It is full of magnificant details! We got to go up the towers and enjoyed the magnificence if this wholehearted tribute to the holy by Gaudi.
This was a truly inspiring day. Thank you, Gaudi!

I feel as if i am there with you! Great posts!
ReplyDeleteI see you have your skirt on :) Your photos are great. I agree that those chimneys could have inspired George Lucas. Were these photos taken by your iPhone? They are amazing! Yay for Gaudi! You look happy, and I am so happy for you! PS - I loved seeing my baggie with the ribbon on an earlier post...
